Sure, we’ve still got a bit of time before you’re elbow-deep in a big ‘ol bowl of mashed potatoes or sneaking a taste of your pumpkin pie filling. But, as we all know the holiday season has a way of sneaking up on us.
So, whether you’ve planned to prep your Thanksgiving feast and tablescape weeks in advance, or the day before, we’re here to help. If you’re looking for a few simple ways to spruce up your Thanksgiving table without a ton of time, you’ve come to the right place. Because, let’s face it — that turkey cooking in the oven deserves ALL of your attention.
Here is our tried and true Thanksgiving tablescape formula that’s sure to give even Martha Stewart’s table a run for top turkey.
THE BASE LAYERS
The key to the perfect table? A great base layer, of course. Start your HGTV worthy tablescape by picking out a neutral, subtle runner, or tablecloth to serve as the backdrop for your scene.
A few unique DIY’s we’re loving: Burlap runners, butcher paper tablecloths or placemats, or a simple washed linen backing that can be used throughout any season. Each of these unique options can add a personal touch to your tablescape, without breaking the bank.
Regardless of the direction you choose with your base, keep it classic and simple — we’ll be letting our stoneward and foliage do the talking soon.
When it comes to creating the perfect Thanksgiving Table, we can’t recommend investing in high-quality, long-lasting stoneware enough. Investing in gorgeous neutral pieces will allow you to use the same Stoneware for years to come.
For our traditionalists, we love the Cook and Host collection, with a scalloped edging that perfectly compliments any pecan or pumpkin pie!
For those who love texture, we recommend the Sardegna collection — which has the artistic style of a potter’s creation. It is amazingly durable, yet moderately lightweight, glazed in either white with a hand applied reactive edge line on each piece.
Love a lived-in look? The Aparte collection features an appealing set of serving and dining pieces with organic shapes inspired by nature. A perfect “add–on” collection to sit alongside your favorite tableware for an informal and unexpected effect.
Lastly, add in your personality with glassware that suits your style. Our current favorite for the holiday is the Espiral collection, which adds a fancy twist to your table setting.
We’ll let you in on a little secret…you can use foliage, gourds, pumpkins, and greenery to completely elevate a simple table. So, if you have a few pumpkins that are still usable post-Halloween, save them.
Or, in between turkey bastings, take a stroll outside, and pick up some twigs and branches from your backyard or sidewalk. Add them throughout the table to add a touch of nature to your neutral setting.
Have some spare time? Compliment your foliage by creating custom menus or place setting cards at home. PSA: Pinterest is a gold mind for custom looking templates, without all the hassle of making them yourself. If you aren’t already, be sure to follow us there for ideas and inspiration!
THE PERSONAL TOUCH
Here’s where YOU come in. Your Thanksgiving Tablescape should be full of elements of you, your family, and your loved ones. So, make it personal!
Love glitz and glamor? Add a touch of sparkle with special napkin rings.
Want to make it feel homey? Add simple framed photos of your guests around the table.
Or, get the kids involved by having them make personalized place holders for each of your attendees.
Whichever route you choose, make your guests feel loved and appreciated with special touches that scream, “I’m thankful for you.”
